Nutrition Coaching

  • Nutrition Coaching is built for those who want more out of their lifestyle and healthcare. Designed based on behavior change models, you will get much more than a cookie cutter meal plan. You’ll develop a deeper understanding of nutrition and health, set goals that are measurable and achievable, and move at a pace that works for you. Whether you want to improve diet quality, overcome an eating disorder, prevent chronic disease, or fuel explosive athletic performance, Nutrition Coaching can help get you there.

  • The difference between these two titles are level of education and scope of practice. To earn the title of Dietitian the following must be completed:

    • 4 years undergraduate education

    • 2 years in an accredited graduate nutrition program

    • ~1,000 hours of supervised practice

    • Pass a national Registered Dietitian exam

On the other hand, the title of Nutritionist has no requirements. Anyone, regardless of education level, can call themself a Nutritionist.

Furthermore, Dietitians fall under the category of Allied Healthcare Professionals. They work closely with the rest of your healthcare team to treat a variety of health complications. Whether you are struggling with chronic gut complications, heart disease, insulin resistance, body recomposition goals, fueling for sport, or an eating disorder, a good Dietitian is an integral part of your healthcare team.

  • When you come for your consultation appointment you should expect about 60-minutes with Andrew. In this session he will learn everything there is to know about your health needs. Topics of conversation include but not limited to:

    • A full health history covering any relevant diagnoses, surgeries, procedures, & medications

    • History of dieting

    • History of disordered eating/eating disorders

    • Health/fitness/athletic goals

    • A step by step walk through of your caloric, macronutrient, and hydration needs.

  • There is no expectation for any client to track calories and macros. The decision to do so is entirely up to you. Andrew has helped people manage blood sugars, gastrointestinal complications, elevated cholesterol, lose weight, and recover from eating disorders without tracking a single calorie.

  • There are many reasons you may want to work with a Dietitian that has nothing to do with bodyweight. Dietitians are trained in all aspects of lifestyle management to include balancing cholesterol, improving insulin resistance, treating gastrointestinal conditions, overcoming eating disorders, and more. Andrew has also worked with many clients who simply wanted to improve their diet quality. If you are still curious if Andrew can help you, feel free to stop by the front desk or send him an email at andrew.youck@lift-stl.com.

  • As a Dietitian, Andrew is trained in interpreting various lab values. If you have recent labs that you'd like to learn more about, bring them to your consultation or follow up session. Andrew will review them with you and discuss which labs can be treated through lifestyle management.

  • Andrew understands that body weight can be a difficult topic to discuss. There is no requirement or pressure to share your bodyweight during any coaching session.

  • Yes! Andrew treats eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, orthorexia, and ARFID. As a teen, Andrew struggled with disordered eating, an experience that pushed him to become a Dietitian. He combines this lived experience with clinical knowledge to create an environment that challenges food fears and poor body image while promoting recovery and independence.

  • Yes, Andrew has training in Intuitive Eating and has helped many people utilize this approach to improve diet quality and overcome eating disorders.
